I’m a procrastinator and sometimes that gets me into trouble. You’d think at 32 I would’ve learned my lesson, but nah.
So what does that have to do with Alcatraz?

17 miles yesterday and 12 miles today!
Today started with a reservation for breakfast at Kitchen Story in the Castro district. I have three words: fried. French. toast.

We saw so much on our first day that I had to split the day into three different posts (see first post here and my dim sum post here).
After lunch we headed toward Ocean Beach!

In my last post I briefly mentioned that this post would be about our first experience with dim sum. Let’s just say we were completely out of our element (there are not many opportunities for dim sum in rural North Carolina).
But if you’re in San Francisco and looking for some great dim sum, we highly recommend a stop at Dragon Beaux!

The husband and I just got back from our first trip to California, and it’s good to be home! Although we had a great time, there were a lot of things about this trip that didn’t go as planned (and I’m a planner, so that’s difficult for me to deal with 🤷🏻♀️).

This was the last day of our Scotland adventure, and to be honest, I reallllllly didn’t want to come back to the U.S.
Since we still hadn’t been inside a castle, our goal was to get to Dunstaffnage Castle.

After all the excitement from the previous day, today was pretty laidback and was mostly spent just walking around Oban, eating (duh), and running errands.
Annnnnd…

I can’t believe how many cool things we saw in one day! Scotland is gorgeous, and it doesn’t take a very long drive to find not just beautiful, but also historic, scenery.
Our next stop of the day was at a canal where they were actually lowering the water to get some boats through!

We packed so much cool stuff into today that I had to break up this post into three parts! (and I’ll probably still have way too many pictures!)
Some of the students had already been to this location, so when I heard there was an old jail here in Inveraray, it became one of the top things I wanted to do!

I was doing so well with blog posts but school prep and wedding planning has taken over my life recently. I’m really excited about my wedding, but holy cow y’all, elopement is smart. After the Scotland Series, I’ll be doing some wedding updates.
But back to the happiness of Scotland – on day 11 we met at the school but didn’t really have anything to do. The students went to class with their Scots, so we three chaperones went walking around downtown, which of course means food again!
