Today was the last day for most people in our group, so I wanted us to go out with a (doughnut) bang!
If you’re doing any type of research on Austin, Gourdough’s seems to always be popping up! And since they’re all about doughnuts, and if you’re even a little bit familiar with my blog, you know that I didn’t hesitate to take us here!
Sunday was another busy day in Austin!
One of my sister’s requests for her weekend was to have at least one workout class. I did a ton of research trying to find the perfect, unique class. There were lots of cycling and CrossFit classes, but I was determined to find something totally unique!
I think I succeeded 😉
I rarely blogged last year because there was so much going on, which is a shame because there was so much going on that I could’ve shared! I got engaged in April, went to Boston for a conference, then took twelve high schoolers to Scotland, planned a wedding, had two engagement parties, moved, and got married in December! One thing I can’t believe I haven’t shared with y’all is the amazing bachelorette weekend that my besties threw for me!
We may have gotten together for the donut run, but our weekends always involve more than just donuts! Continue reading

This was a new event for us – I don’t remember how we stumbled across it, but we’re already excited about next year!
One of the worst things that comes from getting older, having a job, and relocating is that it’s hard to get together with your friends. The three of us usually get lucky enough to see each other multiple times throughout the year, but we always make sure to schedule at least one girls weekend.
This year we chose to meet up in Boone!
Earlier in July, I went to Wilmington for the first time with my two best girlfriends. We’ve been friends since college, and I love these two so much. I’m really blessed to have them both in my life.
None of us had been to Wilmington, so we were really looking forward to the trip. We booked a little apartment above the stores downtown through Airbnb. It was a convenient place to stay, but I didn’t sleep much the first night because of all the downtown/bar noise.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t on my blog game and didn’t get very many pictures. But that doesn’t mean I can’t share my food suggestions!
If you visit Wilmington, I suggest an evening stroll on the riverwalk.
The Dixie Grill – We stopped here for breakfast before heading out to the beach, and all three of us were glad we did. I honestly don’t remember what the girls got because I was too focused on my sweet potato pancakes – I didn’t even care if I had pancake belly at the beach!
The Pilot House – Later that evening we wanted something to nibble on and some refreshing drinks, and luckily Wilmington has several options that include a beautiful river view. The Pilot House has a fantastic patio right on the river, so we munched on some Brie and carpaccio, watched the boats go by, and had a perfect sunset.
Food brings out the worst “I’m so excited about digging in” faces in me.
What are some of your suggestions for my next visit to Wilmington? It’s less than a two hour drive from me, so I’ll be frequenting this fun place!
