Bachelorette Party!

I rarely blogged last year because there was so much going on, which is a shame because there was so much going on that I could’ve shared! I got engaged in April, went to Boston for a conference, then took twelve high schoolers to Scotland, planned a wedding, had two engagement parties, moved, and got married in December! One thing I can’t believe I haven’t shared with y’all is the amazing bachelorette weekend that my besties threw for me!

I thought now would be a perfect time to share my own bachelorette party because I’m currently working on my sister’s! But all of that is a secret, so you’ll have to stay tuned until March for info on that!

I had two bridesmaids who weren’t able to make it, so there were four of us on the trip. Corrine and Nicole have been my best friends since college, and Em is my sister, so I can’t really get away from her (just kidding, Em! 🙂 ). We argued a lot when we were little, but she’s definitely a best friend. I don’t know what I’d do without these women, and they made me feel so special during our trip.

They managed to keep the location a secret until I was in the airport, which is pretty impressive! Our original location was supposed to be Key West, but because of Hurricane Irma, that plan had to change, so they picked Fort Lauderdale! I’ve never actually been to Fort Lauderdale (maybe we drove there to leave for a cruise when I was young?), but it was a great place for a bachelorette party!

They rented a super cute house via Airbnb that even had a pool, which we took major advantage of (and our hosts had so many pool floats for us to use!). As you can see, the inside of the house was super chic and modern, and there were three bedrooms, so it provided a lot of room for the four of us.

We met Nicole at the airport in Fort Lauderdale, but my sister flew into Miami, rented a car, and drove up to meet us at the house.

The pool was beautiful and completely secluded from other houses. I think we sometimes forgot that we were actually in a neighborhood. The pool was supposed to be heated, but there’d been a heatwave right before we got there, so the heat hadn’t been turned on. We called and somebody came pretty quickly to help us out!

The outside wasn’t anything super spectacular, but it was still cute and had some really pristine landscaping.

We had a lot of pool company – these storks and this guy who hung out in the corner. We also spotted the biggest iguana/lizard/dragon that I’ve ever seen hanging out in the pool one night.

Corrine cracked me up because she had so much party stuff packed! Games, decorations, you name it, she had it loaded in her suitcase 😂 You’ll definitely see some of her great creations in future posts!

On our first night we ordered pizza in because we all got there so late and weren’t prepared or motivated for going out and exploring.

There are costumes and a food tour coming up, so be sure to follow the blog to see where we went and who we dressed up as!
