If you follow Influencers and bloggers on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed a lot of them wearing the same sneakers with stars on the side that, to be honest, look like they’ve been worn and that most people would be horrified to wear because they look so grungy. These sneakers are by Golden Goose. And fun fact…they range from $480 to $600.

I’m not here to judge what people spend their money on, but for myself, I just can’t process spending that much money for a pair of shoes – I don’t care how comfortable they are, unless they’re also cleaning my house and making dinner. So far, I haven’t read any reviews where that’s the case…
I’m also confused about the grungy look. They look like a child has run around in them and scuffed them up (there are also pure white ones, but I’ve mostly seen the other kinds). And if you’re unfamiliar with the brand and/or sneaker, it’s pictured below.
If you’re like me and Golden Goose sneakers are completely out of your budget, there are dupes that look similar to these but are in a more reasonable and attainable price range. So you’ll have cute shoes and still be able to buy groceries for the rest of the year! And y’all, the dupes and alternatives sell out FAST, so if you see a pair you love for a price that makes you happy, then get them immediately.
If you’re into the grungy, already worn-in look, these Rezza Sneakers by Steve Madden are a good option. They have the star on the side and have a metallic silver back heel. They’re $99 on DSW, and until February 2nd, you can use code LUCKIEST to get $15 off!
These are also by Steve Madden, but they’re the Rubie Star Sneaker. They look quite a bit more like the Golden Goose pair at the very beginning, and they also come in snakeskin print at Belk. These are also $99 and the glitter pair should also be $15 off at DSW with the code LUCKIEST.
Honestly, I think these Cuba Platform Sneakers look basically the same as the Golden Goose PURESTAR Sneaker and these are only $55 compared to $495!
Next up are these dupes by Nature Breeze from Amazon! They come in leopard, black glitter, gold glitter, gold, multiple snakeskin prints, and some different varieties of black. Prices range from $20-$50, and the reviews are numerous and positive!
These Vanellope Sneakers are also from Amazon and are limited in sizes, but they’re fun, glittery, and have the stars on them! They also come in black (also limited sizes) and the price is around $50.
And lastly, some Cole Haan tennis shoes that just recently hit the markdown section on Nordstrom. These come in Brazilian leather (above), Mahogany rose leather, and Nimbus cloud leather. No stars on these, but the shape and look are quite similar to the Golden Goose sneakers. These used to be $130, but are on sale for around $52 – definitely a great price for quality Cole Haan.
So what do you think of the Golden Goose trend? Are you willing to pay that much for popular, comfortable shoes, or are you happier with dupes or alternative sneakers? Let me know in the comments!
